Project Selection Criteria and Process

To ensure we are using our resources effectively and aligning with our mission, we have established broad yet clear criteria for project selection. This page outlines the factors considered during the application review process.

Mission Statement

DARE Collective empowers organizations navigate the complexities of securing the support they need to help others by becoming self-sufficient in their marketing efforts and thrive. We are proudly pro bono backstage enablers, measuring our success by the impact on our recipient organizations, not by accolades, digital presence, or short-term wins.

Core Values

  • Adaptability: We embrace the ability to learn, adjust, and develop innovative marketing approaches to stay ahead of the curve.

  • Collaboration: We understand the power of teamwork in ensuring our solutions perfectly align with organizations’ goals.

  • Empowerment: We believe in equipping organizations with the knowledge and skills to make informed marketing decisions.

  • Independence: We foster an environment that cultivates critical thinking and strategic decision-making.

Projects That Align with Our Mission

  • Campaign Development: Create targeted marketing and PR campaigns across various channels, both paid and unpaid, to achieve specific goals such as fundraising drives, volunteer recruitment, and event organization.

  • Content Creation: Craft compelling content (written, visual, or video) to educate your audience about the issues you address and inspire action.

  • Marketing Strategy & Consulting: Offer guidance and support on developing a comprehensive data-driven marketing strategy to achieve long-term goals.

  • Social Media Marketing: Develop a social media strategy to expand your reach, connect with your target audience, and share impactful stories about your work.

  • Website Development: Design and build a user-friendly website optimized for search engines to increase brand awareness, showcase your mission, and provide a platform for donor engagement.

This is not an exhaustive list, so organizations are free to apply even if their project needs don't perfectly match these examples.

We are not legally responsible for the content or outcomes of the beneficiary's communications. We solely provide guidance on their formal aspects and reserve the right to take credit for our contributions. Please note that any costs associated with implementing marketing campaigns are the sole responsibility of the beneficiary.

Project Selection Criteria

  • Mission Alignment: Projects must directly support DARE’s mission and core values, focusing on creating positive social impact that transcends any specific political agenda or ideology. We aim to ensure that our resources are directed towards initiatives that benefit a broad audience as much as possible. We prioritize quality over quantity in our selection process.

  • Organizational Strenght: We look for registered charities, non-profits, or public entities with a proven track record, clear governance, and a dedicated point of contact for the project (staff or volunteer). It is crucial to have clear, established goals that are specific, measurable, actionable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART).

  • Marketing Needs: The organization should have a demonstrable need for marketing support to address a specific challenge or opportunity. We favor collaboration with organizations founded within the past 3 years with fewer than 10 staff members. However, this is not a strict requirement.

  • Collaboration Time Zone: Due to the location of the majority of our collaborations and associated cultural expertise, projects based in or with strong leadership presence within EU time zones will be given additional consideration during the selection process.

  • Our Capacity: The success of a potential project is highly dependent on the resources we can allocate at the time of the request.

Project Selection Process

  1. Application: Organizations can submit a project application form through our website or by contacting us at hello@dare-collective.org. We also encourage our network of collaborators to suggest projects that align with DARE’s mission.

  2. Initial Review: DARE collaborators will review all applications based on the selection criteria outlined above in an ad hoc meeting. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted for further discussion.

  3. Project Discussion: Shortlisted organizations will have the opportunity to discuss their project goals and needs in more detail with DARE collaborators.

  4. Project Selection: Based on the application information, discussions, and alignment with selection criteria, DARE will make a final decision regarding project selection. If, during the selection process, any collaborator expresses uncertainty about a project's suitability, a vote may be held amongst all collaborators. In such a vote, if more than 25% of collaborators vote to veto the project, it will not be selected.

  5. Notification: All applicants will be notified of the selection decision.

Timeline

DARE aims to provide a response to applicants within 5 business days of receiving a comprehensive application. The review process, including discussion and selection, can take up to 1 month. The length of the project itself varies, but our goal is to minimize our involvement, ensuring organizations become self-sufficient as quickly as possible.
